After The Journey Home released in March of last year, I focused on finishing Phoebe’s Garden. I had started the book in December 2020, before I finished A Heart’s Journey. Stories seem to find me. I can’t sit down to a blank screen and come up with something. All of my “in the works” stories have came to me when working on something else.
However, after finding myself stuck on Phoebe’s Garden for the better part of a year, I’ve decided to work on The Knitting Club. This story is about three women who meet in the yarn aisle of a craft store. I currently have 32,510 words written, which is a good bit. I have no idea how long it will be. I still have several main scenes to write and scenes to tie every thing together. I don’t know if it will be a novella or a full-length novel. Let me introduce you to the characters!
Frida is a widow in her mid seventies. She sees an ad in the newspaper looking for knitters to make socks for troops stationed overseas. On the day she goes to the craft store to shop for yarn, she meets Marin, then Heather.
Marin is twenty and has recently found herself homeless after her grandmother’s death. Her grandmother had just started teaching her to knit when she passed away.
Heather is in her late forties and finds herself starting life over after her husband of nearly twenty years informs her he wants a divorce. She remembers how knitting helped her cope with her emotions in the past, and decides to pick up the hobby again.
Throw in Frida’s quirky BFF Joyce and Oscar the cat and you have a fun story. At least I think so!
